Hello! I’m excited to share my ten-day journey of decluttering and organizing my closet. I hope you enjoy reading about my experience. Keep in mind that everyone’s decluttering process can vary depending on the type of closet, the time they have available, and their personal preferences.
I decided to embark on my closet decluttering journey by taking it one day at a time. After giving it some thought, I estimated that the entire process might take around 12 days to complete; however, the timeline could vary depending on the size of the closet. To begin, I started with the top shelf on the left side. I carefully took everything down, except for the dolls, as I preferred to keep them in their place.
As I sorted through the items, I discovered medical supplies, including gauze pads, band-aids, two first aid kits, sewing supplies, two boxes of large sandwich bags, and a wooden box containing additional medical items. I realized this area could work well as an “Emergency Kit” section. To organize it better, I gathered all the emergency and survival items into one place so they were easy to locate.
I took a quick trip to Target and picked up a couple of slim wire bins that fit perfectly in the closet. I also visited Michaels during a sale and grabbed another basket for the second shelf. Since I still had the energy and time, this helped speed up the process, saving me an extra day.
Lastly, I rearranged the clothing in my closet. I moved the skirts and pants from the right side to the left and shifted all the tops, blouses, and some blazers to the right. This new arrangement feels much more balanced.
Conclusion
estimated that it took me about two and a half hours to declutter a portion of my closet. Now, I’m all set for day two!
